Winter Rabbit is a semi-cooperative, hidden worker placement game for 2–6 players.
The game features Cherokee art, design, and cultural elements, set within the world of traditional Cherokee animal stories.
Theme & Story
The village elders have predicted a severe winter. To prepare, the villagers must work together to gather the necessary supplies.
- In the spirit of friendly competition, the villagers compete to see who can be the most helpful.
- But beware of Rabbit, the trickster! Rabbit refuses to help and instead sows confusion to hoard resources for himself.
Each player takes on the role of an animal character, balancing cooperation with competition to ensure the village survives.
Gameplay
Hidden Worker Placement
- Villagers are drawn randomly from a bag.
- The active player knows which villager they drew and chooses where to place it — but this information is hidden from everyone else.
- Resource Generation:
- Resources are only produced if enough villagers are present.
- When produced, all players receive 1 resource, and those with villagers at the location gain extra resources.
Rabbit Villagers
- Rabbit villagers do not produce resources.
- Instead, their presence diverts resources to the Rabbit Burrow.
- On later turns, players can steal back resources from the Burrow.
Spending Resources
Players can invest resources in multiple ways:
- Village Cards – Build your personal engine.
- Stories – Affect all players with shared events.
- Tasks – Score points, progress the game, and provide benefits to another player.
Resource Management
- Storage is limited.
- Overproduction may block future generation, forcing players to balance growth and efficiency.
Endgame & Victory
- The game ends after a variable number of rounds (based on player count).
- If the village has enough supplies:
- The player with the highest score wins.
- If the village fails to gather supplies:
- All players lose together, as Winter overwhelms the village.
